Amanda Arciero, LCSW

I believe your life should be tailored by you.

Have you been feeling like you’re on autopilot, watching as life passes you by? Do you spend so much time and energy doing for others, you have nothing left to give yourself?

You’re in the right place.

Hi! I’m Amanda, and I help adults and teens identify their needs, values, and heal people pleasing tendencies in order to live a more harmonious life.

Working with me, you will discover the root cause of these painful emotional experiences, identify, and change unhelpful thought and behavior patterns, and emerge feeling in control of your own life. You will come to better understand your emotions and find that you can live a life of fulfillment. Clients I have had the honor of working with have overcome the same struggles you’re currently navigating. Through engaging in the therapy process and doing the work, they have been able to set boundaries, identify their needs, wants, and values, and prioritize their own wellbeing. They’re living the life they’ve dreamed of, and they tailored it entirely themselves.

I’ve been fortunate to have spent over a decade in the helping professions in a variety of settings. My experience includes in home case management, coordinating and running Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) group therapy within an addiction treatment setting, individual therapy, emergency room psychiatric emergency services, completing intake assessments at an inpatient treatment facility, medical social work and discharge planning, and group private practice. I received my master’s in social work from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service in 2017, and an Advanced Clinical Practice Certificate from New York University in 2020.

When I’m not working with clients, I love to read in my backyard (psychological thrillers are my jam), hang out with my dog Ravioli, sit on the beach with my husband with our chairs in the water, practice yoga at my favorite local studio, or cook a good meal. I’m also a sucker for a good Netflix marathon.

How I work

Therapy with me isn’t all sitting & talking.

We’ll also work on real, practical skills that you can apply to your day-to-day life.

I’m trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Inference Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have a special interest in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Polyvagal Theory (PVT).

While we will certainly be discussing some serious topics in therapy, I take a laid back and personalized approach to the process. A positive therapeutic relationship is one of the best indicators for a successful experience in therapy, and I use my humor and personality throughout. I find that showing up as my real authentic self encourages those I have had the privilege of working with to do the same. I welcome you as you are, and I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your dream reality.

My core values

Empathy

Understanding and sharing the feelings of others is a gift and a skill, and I value my ability to bring empathy into the therapy space. Know that I’ll be there to hold the complex emotions you’re experiencing alongside you throughout the therapy process.

Non-Judgment

Therapy should be the truest judgement free zone, and unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. If you’ve had negative experiences in therapy that leave you hesitant to give it another try, I urge you to reach out.

Trust

It’s not easy to open up to a complete stranger, and as a therapist who is also in therapy, I know how important it is to feel connected to someone before diving into the deep stuff. We will work at your pace to develop a strong working relationship built on trust.

Safety

As a therapist, ensuring your safety is my top priority, and creating a safe space for you to feel free to openly express your deepest thoughts is of the utmost importance. Your privacy is always protected with me, and our therapeutic relationship is confidential.
